FESTIVAL GUIDELINES
Detonate Festival Management are committed to providing the safest and most secure event for you lucky punters. Stick to the rules below and help us, help you, have the best and safest New Year’s you possibly can.
Festival Safety & Security
Safety and security for you, for our staff, and for everyone involved is an absolute must. All of our stunt staff and performers are trained and credited professionals, we have onsite First Aid staff and St John’s team, and we liaise heavily with local police, ambulance and fire departments. The safety section of Detonate Festival is located next to the Event HQ trailer, which also functions as the main hub to solve problems and issues across the event.
Medical & Welfare
We love St John’s at Detonate. If at any stage or at any time you or someone with you feels unwell or gets hurt, come and see our friendly, well trained doctors and nurses onsite with a fully equipped first aid centre. Remember though, you are big boys and girls, so we hope that you will take care of yourselves during Detonate.
PS. If you are in trouble, or your friends are, send someone to find one of the Detonate team or one of the St. John’s team to help.
Little People
Little Pyros (9 – 14 years) and Tom Thumbs (0 – 8 years) must be accompanied by an adult.
Lost Property
Lost property can be found or handed in to the Event HQ Trailer, located at the back of the festival area by the bar.
Environment
Detonate Festival is held in the beautiful and untouched world of north Taranaki. The festival itself is being held on a private property with wonderful owners who are happy for you guys to have a great time, as long as we look after the land and the environment.
Take the lead and make sure that you use the rubbish and recycling bins provided. Not only will it make for a nicer place to party for you, but it will minimise the damage to this beautiful neck of the woods and make sure that we are able to come back next year and blow some more stuff up!!
Prohibited Drugs
While Detonate wants you to enjoy yourselves and feel free to party, we still have to abide by the laws of Aotearoa.
Drugs are illegal. If you have come to Detonate to take drugs or sell drugs then odds are you will be caught by us, or the police and will be either arrested or ejected from the property.
We reserve the right to check bags and cars and people at the entrance. Be prepared, if you get caught trying to bring illegal drugs in, don’t get offended when we turn you away. You were warned and there will be no ticket refund.
In saying that, if you see anyone getting a bit too out of it or are in distress, our Event Management staff are trained in Emergency First Aid. Get in front of one of them and get them to help out, St John’s are also there to help, don’t be afraid to ask!
Alcohol
Don’t miss out on the bombs by spending the day puking in the bushes. Have a wicked as time, but please be sensible with your drinking. You don’t want to be the person that everyone takes photos of and makes “Priceless Ads” about after the show. It could happen.
Bring photo ID. If you are trying to get into the R18 areas, you will be asked for ID.
Bringing alcohol or soft drinks onto the site is not allowed. You may be searched on arrival and if you are found to be carrying drinks you will be asked to hand them over or leave the festival area. Again, you have been warned, so don’t chuck a tanty if you are caught with alcohol and you lose it or get asked to leave.
The NO List
Look guys, we don’t want to sound like your Mum, but to make sure that Detonate is great for everyone, we are going to have to ask that you DON’T bring any of the following:
* Alcohol or soft drinks. We provide all this for you.
* Illegal drugs. It’s ILLEGAL.
* Pets – no Lassies, Black Beauties or Sooties allowed. They can live without you for one night. Registered guide dogs are okay.
* Weapons of any sort. (That pretty much means anything that you could potentially hurt someone else with, think before you bring).
* Any glass. That means bottles, cups, bowls. We don’t want you to get hurt by it or our crack team of super cleaners to have to pick it up.
